Chambery airport, officially known as Chambéry-Savoie Airport (CMF), is a small international airport in close proximity to several French ski resorts. The airport is actually situated in the town of Le Viviers du Lac next to Bourget Lake, half an hour outside the town of Chambéry, and within easy driving distance of Aix-les-Bains. Chambéry airport is served by nine airlines: Air Southeast, Astraeus, Excel Airways, Sterling Airlines, Flybe, Jet2.com, Siberia Airlines, Thomsonfly, and VIM Airlines. Public transport links are poor but there a few car rental providers and some good Chambery airport transfer service providers.
Chambéry Airport is the gateway to many of France’s most popular ski destinations, and is ideal for airport transfers to most of the French Alps, the Bauges and the Chartreuse Mountains. Due to its small size Chambéry airport provides an efficient airport transfer hub and fast access to over 100 major ski resorts from here in less than two hours. It makes a good alternative to Geneva airport transfers. Airport transfers offer the most efficient method of getting to and from ski resorts in the region. They are also direct and take less time than using the public transport network. You may also wish to consider car hire, with facilities available at the airport.
Ski transfer from Chambery airport can take you to the following ski resorts within 1.5 hours: Albiez Montrond (in Les Sybelles Ski Area); Champagny en Vanoise,; Courchevel (a fantastic ski resort in Three Valleys Ski Area); La Norme, Les Saisies; Notre Dame de Bellecombe (both in Espace Diamant Ski Area); Saint Martin de Belleville (excellent for expert skiers); Valmorel (in Le Grand Domaine Ski Area); and Le Collet d’Allevand. All the ski resorts mentioned above can also be reached within two to three hours from Grenoble airport transfer.
Two hours transfer from Chambéry Airport are the following resorts:
Chatel; Briançon (in Grand Galaxie Ski Area); Les Arcs; Chamonix (in Ski Pass Mont Blanc Area); Les Rousses (in Paradiski Area); Montriond (in Portes du Soleil Ski Area); Samöens (Grand Massif Ski Area); Val d’Isére, and Tignes (both in Espace Killy Ski Area).

Public transportation links are available from Chambery but it is strongly suggested that you look at alternatives. If you are unable to book a private Chambery airport transfer it is possible to get to most ski resorts by taxi and there are a few car rental places are available to enable alternative transportation. Public transport itself is not a realistic alternative to transfers from Chambery airport if you want to reach your destination in good time.
