    Les Gets is a popular ski resort within the Portes de Soleil ski area. This is one of the largest of its kind in the world. There are almost 700km of pistes available. Slopes range from nursery slopes for beginners to more adventurous black runs. There are also many off-piste opportunities. Les Gets is a small town yet quite a lively one. It is a purpose built resort with some unique architecture. There is a choice of hotels and guest houses that cover all budgets. There are also restaurants and bars for après-ski entertainment.

    From which airport can I reach Les Gets?

    The most convenient airport from which to reach Les Gets is Geneva. Geneva is only one hour to most resorts in the Portes du Soleil region including Les Gets. Please note if you fly into Turin airport you will have to travel through the Mt Blanc tunnel to get to any Portes de Soleil resort as other mountain roads and passes are closed during the winter. Other options for the French part of Portes du Soleil are Chambery or Lyon. Both Berne and Zurich are also options for the Swiss ski resorts but transfer time can be two to three hours during peak travel time. We strongly recommend you use a direct airport transfer for the shortest journey time. Some visitors choose to hire a car, with facilities available at all the airports.

    Is there public transport to Les Gets?

    With no direct rail link to Les Gets the public transport options are limited. If you choose to take the train from any of the airports you may have to change. This means longer than average journey times. There are some options for public transport, and the most popular are listed below.

    • Many operators offer shuttle buses or shared transfers into the Porte du Soleil region
    • Take a train from Geneva airport to Thonon-les-Bains or Cluses, then a shuttle bus to Les Gets
    • Take a train from Lyon airport to Thonon-les-Bains or Cluses, then the shuttle bus to Les Gets
    • Take a train from Berne to Monthey and Champéry, then the shuttle bus to Les Gets
    • Take a train from Zurich to Monthey and Champéry, and the shuttle bus to Les Gets
