Les Arcs is a popular ski resort that is now part of the mighty Paradiski ski area. Designed to cater for all types of skiers, this major skiing resort combines the Les Arcs resort with others in the La Plagne area. The combined resorts offer over 100 runs and 200km of pistes. Les Arcs is split into different sections at various levels, and offers plenty of choice in accommodation, places to eat and après-ski entertainment. It has a reputation as a lively resort, but is also family-friendly. There is plenty off-piste opportunity, and it is wise to take a guide as it can be quite rough.
From which airport can I reach Les Arcs?
The closest airport to Les Arcs is either Chambery or Lyon. Both Grenoble and Geneva are also options but transfer time can be over three hours during peak travel time. Some people use cheap flights to Italian airports, mainly Milan Malpensa, but these are only worthwhile if they are very cheap. Also, if you fly into one of the Italian airports you will have to travel through the Mt Blanc tunnel to get to Les Arcs as all the mountain roads and passes are closed during the winter.
