    Some Facts about Leutasch

This village of about 2,000 souls is located right in the heart of the North Tyrolean Alps, in the Olympic Region Seefeld. 26 quaint little hamlets form the municipality of Leutasch, which is located in the Olympic Region Seefeld in a high valley close to the border to Bavaria. This village is above all popular due to the typical “Lüftlmalerei”, a handicraft method of wall-painting, which originally comes from Bavaria and Tyrol. This type of paintings involve a fresco-technique applied to freshly laid plaster

In winter, however, perfectly suitable for beginners is the ski lift Neuleutasch with 1.5 km of ski slopes. The lift facility is part of the Olympic Region Seefeld skiing area, a ski carousel which includes the lift facilities in Leutasch, Mösern/Buchen, Reith, Scharnitz and Seefeld and offers 46.5 km of ski slopes and 27 lift facilities. In the valley you can explore the different cross-country ski tracks and the winter hiking trails.

The skiing area Leutasch-Kreithlift, the ski lifts Neuleutasch and Mösern-Hinterfeld, the Gschwandtkopf lift facilities, the ski centre Rosshütte, the Geigenbühellift and Birkenlift facilities and the Brandlift funicular in Scharnitz have become one and form one large skiing area: the Olympic Region Seefeld! Seefeld itself is an urban centre on a sunny plateau and is protected by the Wetterstein and Karwendel mountain ranges. This area is really snow sure - once snow has fallen in this region snow persists until late spring.
