    Garmisch-Partenkirchen is by far the best-known ski resort in all of Germany, located in the Bavarian Alps and with an altitude ranging from 700 metres to 2,830 metres. This is where the International Ski Jump Championships are held every year, along with countless races and other huge competitions. The town itself is an absolute treasure to behold and simply oozes Bavarian hospitality. Flanked by the biggest mountain in Germany – the Zugspitze - Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s 30,000 permanent inhabitants are famed the world over for the warmth of their welcome, the kindness of their spirit and the size of the food portions they dish up!

    Airports

    The good news is that Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a breeze to get into and is served by four major airports which are less than a two-hour drive away. As such, this is one place you have every chance of visiting just for a couple of days or a long weekend without worrying about travel times. Munich Airport and Innsbruck Airport are your best choices for quick access, being only about an hour away from the pistes of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in good driving conditions. Salzburg and Memmingen are the next two closest. All airports in the region offer dozens of direct transfer services to get you moving as quick as possible.

    Advice on Transportation to Garmisch-Partenkirchen

    The ride between Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen takes about an hour and is quite frankly stunning – take a bus and enjoy the stunning scenery. Be warned though that some services can take up to three hours during busy times. Trains are also available from Munich every hour or so and again, the 90-minute ride is a joy of joys in its own right. For the sake of convenience, the lowest prices and making the very best of what time you have though, we cannot overstate the convenience of a pre-booked airport transfer service.
